Styling Your Outfits Using The Color Wheel

MINI ARTIST COLOR WHEEL on AMAZON

When I moved to Miami Beach, people from all over the world lived there, and the fashion was like nothing I had ever seen. I had never seen so much color! I had a class at the International Academy of Design, we learned about the color wheel. This helped me combine the different colors to curate my outfit creations and ideas.

Dressing up daily in Miami Beach was an event; you had to be on your A-game. So, I want to share where you can get a pocket color wheel and try to help you curate some outfit ideas. You probably already have these colors in your closet now, but you never considered pairing them together. Let me break the color wheel down for you.

Primary Colors The fundamental color combination generated by pure colors: red, yellow, and blue.

Secondary Colors The secondary color combination associates the secondary colors: orange, green, and purple.

Complementary Colors This combination includes the choice of colors directly opposite each other: green/red, blue/orange, and yellow/purple.

Analogous Colors Three colors adjacent to one another on the chromatic scale (including their tints and shades of shadow) are considered analogous.

Contrasting Colors Combinations of contrasting colors have a strong and striking effect. To obtain a contrasting combination, you have to associate a color with a complementary color on each side, for example, blue with red or orange.

My Favorite Monochromatic Colors This is using one color. I enjoy using one color with different textures, such as patent leather and faux fur.

I have curated a few outfit ideas below to give you a visual of how to use the color wheel.
